Yes, it is microwave safe since it is made of pure silicone. We recommend using it partially open, unless the microwave is oversized.
If used properly as per package instructions (eg. not placed directly on heating element or placed in direct contact with flames), SplatterDōm will not melt as it is made with 100% pure food grade silicone with no additives.
SplatterDōm 8/10" and 10/12" can be used on your pots and pans for anything from frying to boiling, to searing and sautéing. Use it to reheat your leftovers in the microwave and you can also place it on your plate with the lid on to keep your food warm.
Not really. Just don't place it in direct contact with flames or heating elements (this means the oven as well). SplatterDōm's height should not be adjusted while on a hot cooking device and once you are done cooking, simply pick it up by the handles and place it in your sink or dishwasher.
It depends. We found during our multiyear long R&D process that cooking with SplatterDōm might slightly alter cooking times, mainly because of how heat doesn't escape as easily. For example, searing a steak on a cast iron won't overcook with the Dōm in place so long as it is made without the lid (you will get a great sear without the mess that is usually associated with it, such as oily splatter). Tomato sauce on the other hand (despite having a mind of its own) can be simmered at lower temperatures without taking longer to cook.
Most brands make multiple sizes with different lines of cookware. We strongly recommend measuring the diameter of your pots/pans before buying your SplatterDōm to ensure you aren’t using, for example, an 8” pan that’s actually 7” or 9”. SplatterDōm is dishwasher safe, and can also be easily washed by
hand. Do not use abrasive cleaners such as steel wool. You can also keep your SplatterDōm on top of your dirty pot/pan in the sink, fill with soapy water all the way to the top, and let everything soak! For those of us with hard water at home, because SplatterDōm is made with environmental consideration in mind, rather than adding chemicals to the surface to prevent hard water stains, we simply suggest taking a towel (paper or regular) with a splash of vinegar to the outside of your Dōm to remove those white hard water stains.
Absolutely! SplatterDōm is made out of pure FDA approved food grade silicone and is designed to withstand temperatures of up to 450F. However, your unit will get damaged if the flame is higher than necessary. Flame-kissing is when the flame is coming up too high and as a result goes around and up the side of the pot/pan. When this happens, the temperature of the flame goes well above the 450° temperature limit for silicone. While some people prefer to be extra safe and use a heat diffuser plate, so long as you are careful about your flame (less flame is also more economical and does the job right), you’ll have nothing to worry about.

I've used the SplatterDom while searing meat and stir-frying in a wok, and I'm very pleased to say that I now have much less post-cooking cleaning of my stovetop surface to do, compared to before I bought this product. The lid is particularly great - it contains nearly all oil splatter, but its vent is large enough for steam to escape so that meat sears properly even while the lid is on for the majority of the sear time. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this product, and I will definitely buying more as gifts.
The SplatterDōm is a great kitchen tool - The Quartermaster (aka my wife, the Chef) has used it frequently and the LACK of mess is quite noticeable! Adding ingredients to soup, stew, even fried dishes, is easier and safer - splatter free - and the option to hold in the steam for certain things is a bonus! Great work from the Līq team and excel;lent customer service if needed!
We got the 10/12" version and it fits great. Got it mostly for potatoes and meat and it's awesome. We used to use the standard lid that came with the pots and pans and we were always creating a huge clean up after. Not anymore!
I thought I would try it out on a notoriously messy food first and really put it to the test. I turned up the heat and really got the bacon popping, and there wasn't a drop of grease to clean up on the stovetop afterwards! Cleaning the Splatterdom was a breeze as well. Excited to keep using it and saving time on cleaning afterwards!
Fajita night will never be the same! What can I say, it's exactly as advertised. We used it on the peppers and then flipped it over to cook the steak in the bigger cast iron - zero need to wipe down the counters, the backsplash or the stovetop. Great product!
